On April 21, as part of the enhancement of Kanazawa University research capabilities under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 'Regional Core and Unique Research University Strengthening Promotion Project (J-PEAKS)', Kanazawa University hosted an internal symposium, aiming to form a "Life Science Research Center", that is being developed with a focus on forming a world-class research center that promotes the integration of the humanities, sciences and medicine, centered on Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Institute for the Study of Ancient Civilizations and Cultural Resources, Cancer Research Institute, and Sapiens Life sciences, Evolution and Medicine Research Center. This symposium was held in a hybrid format and was attended by 72 participants.
Following the opening remarks by Seigo Kinuya, Vice President and Deputy Director of J-PEAKS Promotion Division, Professor Mitsutoshi Nakada from Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Associate Professor Takashi Gakuhari from Institute for the Study of Ancient Civilizations and Cultural Resources, and Professor Yoshikazu Johmura from Cancer Research Institute explained the concept, role, vision and research contents of the research center, followed by a question-and-answer session. During the Q&A session, there was a lively exchange of opinions on the research content, future progress, and the possibility of collaboration with the research center, making this a very meaningful symposium.
Kanazawa University J-PEAKS will continue to accelerate the formation of a world-class research center, promote the strengthening of research capabilities, achieve the numerical targets for the outputs and outcomes of this project, and promote the realization of our vision for the next 10 years.
